Barcelona President Joan Laporta says that Ronald Koeman will not be fired anytime soon affirming the Dutchman deserves patience and the trust of the club.
Koeman is beaten again
Barcelona with no Messi are seriously in danger. After being defeated 3-1 by Bayern Munich in Champions League gameweek one, they succumbed to a shocking loss of 3-0 to Portuguese team Benfica in their final game within the competition.
A strike by Darwin Nunez was enough to defeat the Blaugrana which condemned the team to another loss, and also a spot at the bottom of the Champions League group.
There is a match against Atletico Madrid scheduled for this weekend There was the possibility that Barcelona might be seeking an additional coach if they were to be unable to win.
Laporta offers a an affirmation of his confidence
Then again, Barcelona club president Joan Laporta has denied these suggestions in an interview he gave today. In the lead up to their visit for the Wanda Metropolitano Laporta claimed:
“Koeman will continue as manager of his team regardless of the results. He will remain. He is entitled to a degree of confidence. He’s a lover of Barca He’s the benchmark.”
This means that Koeman will be allowed to stay at the very least until after the international break, however should the results fall further and if they fall from the Champions League group stage, the decision could be changed.
